Washington Ski Area Issues Hilariously Verbose Forecast: "A Girthy Plume Of Moisture..."

Crystal Mountain, Washington, had way too much fun with a recent mountain weather forecast.

The forecast, published by Robby Jost on March 9th, contains hilarious phrases like "a girthy plume of moisture" and can be read in full below.

Jost's handiwork appeared quickly on a Reddit forum dedicated to Crystal Mountain, where commenters noted his unique word choices.

"Girth, penetrate, pounded," wrote one commenter. "Checks the boxes."

It's here that we find out who does and doesn't have their mind in the gutter. Admittedly, upon first reading Jost's forecast, I immediately went there—as in, I couldn't help but feel he was intentionally playing into the innuendo angle.

I mean, this sentence? "A girthy plume of moisture continues to penetrate the Cascades from the South." You'd be hard-pressed to find a local weather person talking like that, and if you did, they'd probably be steering towards a course correction from their superiors.

But ski forecasts and snow reports are mercifully removed from the frequent stodginess of evening television. They're a place that many resorts, like Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, Wyoming, allow their employees to go off script and get a little kooky.

The start of JHMR's morning update yesterday reads as follows: "Crawl outta bed and if necessary, get yer head caffeinated. It's gonna be a Tuesday in the Tetons with slope sensations that are truly unadulterated. Don't worry if your workday duties are being abdicated, full employment is totally overrated."

It's the little things that remind us that skiing—despite its rapid evolution into an increasingly corporatized sport—still remembers where it came from.
