Washington Ski Area Expanding Night Skiing Operations

Mission Ridge Ski Area, WA, has a big announcement. "The addition of 4 more nights of Night Skiing this season!"

Officials at Mission Ridge reported that they "will now be open until 9pm on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights through March 2nd."

Mission Ridge is positioned on the east side of the Cascade Crest and receives an average of 200 inches of snowfall each season.

Officials at Mission Ridge explain that this location translates to their resort receiving "some of the driest and fluffiest powder in the Pacific Northwest."

Right now, the mountain just received an inch overnight, and they have a 30 inch base of snow at the summit.

"We also have the best snowmaking team in the PNW and a top-to-bottom snowmaking system that helps us kick start each season and maintain a quality experience throughout the year."

The mountain is also positioned in Wenatchee, "Washington’s only true ski town."

Living in Wenatchee, one can access Mission Ridge in 20 minutes as well as 3 other small local ski areas in the Chelan and Douglas counties.

While few resorts in the West still offer night skiing, it makes sense if you're chasing the most ideal skiing conditions and the temps just don't seem to drop enough during the day. (What's with these 50 degree days, am I right?)

In terms of snow, the colder, the better. When night falls, temps tend to drop, helping out snow quality for those who are willing to make turns under the lights.

Officials at Mission Ridge remind skiers that they are also offering "a bonus Sunday Night Ski next weekend on the 18th!"

Sounds like a blast. Even if you can't make the bonus night, the resort's full operating schedule can be found here.
