The Washington property where Jeff Bezos founded Amazon snags a fast buyer

The humble abode in Bellevue, Washington where Amazon first sprouted its roots has found a new owner just a month after hitting the market.

This unassuming residence was the breeding ground for what has now become one of the world’s most colossal and valuable companies, founded by billionaire Jeff Bezos, now 60.

On Wednesday, the home entered contract, Mansion Global first reported.

Back in 1994, Bezos kickstarted Amazon in the garage of this property, envisioning an online marketplace primarily for books. He rented the home for $890 per month.

But it’s worth noting that the home Bezos rented no longer exists. That 1954 structure underwent a full reconstruction in 2001, which significantly altered its appearance, as well as that of the garage.

Situated a 20-minute drive from downtown Seattle, this three-bedroom home listed in mid-January with a price tag of $2.29 million. Information on the seller’s identity and final sale price are still under wraps.

The listing, handled by Lin Shen of Sea to Sky Realty, boasts a meticulously rebuilt property spanning 1,540 square feet.

Features include an expansive great room, a sleek granite and maple kitchen, and skylights that bathe the space in natural light.

The fully fenced backyard features a large “party” deck and a luxurious hot tub, the listing notes. The property last changed hands in 2019, fetching $1.52 million.

Bezos, once a steadfast Seattle resident, recently announced his relocation plans to Miami, where he’s been splurging on high-end real estate.

And it keeps rolling in. Bezos has pocketed approximately $8.5 billion in cash over the past two weeks by selling a whopping 50 million Amazon shares.
