I rented an Airbnb with some friends this past weekend, and it was - to say the least - not what we expected. While on arrival, we were immediately disappointed that the house was not as clean as we would have liked, we weren't afraid to rough it because of the great downtown location. We were on a budget, after all. However, after returning from a $3 champagne happy hour, we made an incredibly upsetting discovery. It's hard to put into words, so I'll present the evidence:

After noticing the time remaining on the microwave, my friends made a sound no human has ever made before, and I was called into the kitchen to investigate, only to be presented with the above. We quickly decided to vacate our Airbnb - if whatever this was existed, who knows what else we'd find - but a great debate began between us all. The debate continued when I returned to work, so I'm turning to you all to help us solve the mystery.

What I know for sure:

• While we were wary of getting too close, this was clearly something covered in mold, which had taken on the appearance of a heavy fur.

• There was a very strong of odor of rot when the door was open, indicating that it did know a former life as a food item.

• There were 29 seconds left on the timer. So whoever put this in the microwave clearly stopped the cycle with 29 seconds left and forgot about it. What kind of food item would someone warm up and then abandon?

• It had clearly been there for months, despite what my Airbnb host insisted.

OK, now it's up to you. Vote in the polls below to help me sleep better at night.

Editor's Note: We did receive a full refund from our Airbnb, however, he gave us no indication of what the offending item actually was.
