Want to skip cooking this Thanksgiving? These desert businesses are offering takeout meals

Are you hosting Thanksgiving this year and dreading all the cooking it requires? These local businesses can help.

A number of Coachella Valley restaurants and grocery stores are here to make turkey day a little less stressful by offering takeout this holiday season. These establishments have a variety of full meals or a la carte items you can choose from to complete the dinner table and satisfy everyone's cravings — but make sure you call far in advance, because most have cut-off dates for accepting orders.

If you prefer dine-in Thanksgiving options, several local restaurants will be serving up delicious special menus on the holiday.

Mr. Lyons Steakhouse in Palm Springs

A three-course Thanksgiving meal is no problem to put together with the help of Mr. Lyons Steakhouse. The menu, which costs $110 per person, includes a choice of salad or soup, an entrée (turkey, salmon, prime rib or a vegetable pot pie) with sides, and a family-style pumpkin or pecan pie, plus any additional enhancements, such as bread rolls, vegetables and macaroni and cheese. The meal is available for pickup from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Nov. 23.

Jensen's in Palm Desert & Palm Springs

Jensen's has a number of food options to stock up your Thanksgiving dinner table. Choose from a selection of turkey and ham offerings, as well as delectable sides, from Brussel sprouts and candied yams to rolls and a handful of pies. The Palm Desert and Palm Springs locations are currently taking pre-orders.

Whole Foods in Palm Desert

Whole Foods has all the salads, soups and sides you need to make your Thanksgiving dinner even tastier. Some of the items you can order include herb stuffing, macaroni and cheese, lemon-herb asparagus, roasted vegetables, lobster bisque and more. Orders must be made a minimum of 48 hours ahead of pickup date and time.

Gelson's in Rancho Mirage

If you're not going to be able to make all your grocery trips ahead of Thanksgiving, let Gelson's prepare dinner for you. They have a number of meal options available for hungry bellies, including roasted turkey, spiral-glazed ham, boneless prime rib, brisket, poached or spicy grilled salmon and plant-based roasts. The meals come with a number of sides, or you can buy items a la carte. Pickup is available between Nov. 19 and 24, and the last day to order food is Nov. 22.

Chef Tanya’s Kitchen in Palm Desert & Palm Springs

Those looking for a vegan option this Thanksgiving can turn to Chef Tanya’s Kitchen in Palm Desert or Palm Springs for takeout, which is offering roasted seitan and tofu dishes to take home and bake with sides like golden mashed potatoes, leeks and collards, butternut squash wrapped in flaky filo. The vegan restaurant is also taking orders for their gluten-free pumpkin pies ($30). The restaurant suggests ordering online by Sunday, Nov. 19, but notes that some items may sell out before then.

Rick’s Desert Grill in Palm Springs

Rick’s, a Cuban-inspired restaurant, is serving up turkeys, honey-glazed ham, slow roasted pork, prime rib, pasta, sides and desserts this Thanksgiving. Contact the eatery ahead of time to make sure your takeout order is ready on turkey day.

Si Bon in Rancho Mirage

Whether you're looking to feed six or 12 people, Si Bon's Thanksgiving takeout menu has you covered. Said menu includes lobster bisque, Caesar salad, gravy, cranberry sauce, chestnut and sage stuffing, gingered yam soufflé, garlic mashed potatoes, sautéed French beans, apple red cabbage, cranberry rolls and pumpkin and pecan pie. The whole roasted free-range turkey meal for six people costs $360, while two turkeys for 12 people costs $675.

Agua Caliente Casino in Cathedral City

Feeling lucky? You might be if you snag a to-go meal from Agua Caliente Casinos on turkey day. The Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage meals are sold out, but people can still order a $55 per person meal at the Cathedral City location. The meal includes a seasonal salad or kabocha squash soup, sous vide and roasted turkey, plenty of sides and pumpkin pie. All orders must be placed by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, or until they are sold out.

Take a bit of Lulu's California Bistro home with you this Thanksgiving thanks to its takeout offerings. The restaurant is offering a four-course meal, priced at $59.99 per person with a minimum order of two. Pick between a variety of soups (pumpkin, corn chowder or wild mushroom), a harvest salad, entrees (oven roasted turkey, turkey and holiday ham, Atlantic salmon, slow-roasted prime rib or quinoa-stuffed acorn squash) and desserts (pumpkin churro cheesecake, pumpkin pie or triple chocolate cake). Orders can be placed until Wednesday, Nov. 22.

Cowboy Cantina in Palm Desert

Cowboy Cantina is also offering a to-go meal this Thanksgiving. The Palm Desert spot is offering a traditional style meal with smoked turkey breast, homestyle stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry relish flaky biscuits and apple pie, as well as prime rib and Chilean sea bass options. Pickup dates are Nov. 22 and 23.
