The City of St. Augustine is inviting homeowners living within the city limits to request a tree, given free of charge, to be planted within the right of way, adjacent to or on private property during its Tree Canopy Enhancement Program.

Homeowners can apply online June 1 through Aug. 31 or until supplies last. Tree species include live oak; red cedar; east Palatka holly; sand live oak; redbud; Yaupon holly; Simpson’s stopper; winged elm; and sweetbay magnolia.

Applications will be reviewed, and a site assessment will be conducted to verify that the tree fits in the available space. Applicants will be able to verify if the space is located within city limits when applying. Selections will be finalized in September and the trees will be planted in December. Post planting, the homeowner is responsible for caring for the tree.
