Want $18K worth of Pappy Van Winkle for just $100? How to get the sought-after bourbon

Imagine this: You bring home five bottles of Pappy Van Winkle and only spend $100. And you helped out a good cause.

One lucky winner will be able to say “cheers” to that.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana, 550 S. First St., is again raffling off five bottles of Pappy packaged as a flight.

The raffle is open now through Sept. 28 and 1,984 tickets are available. Tickets cost $100 and all proceeds will benefit families who stay at the Ronald McDonald House when they travel to Louisville for medical care for their children. All programs are free to families.

The flight includes one bottle of each: Pappy Van Winkle 23 Year, Pappy Van Winkle 20 Year, Pappy Van Winkle 15 Year, Van Winkle Special Reserve 12 Year, Old Rip Van Winkle 10 Year. To sweeten the deal, Julian Van Winkle III, president of Old Rip Van Winkle Distillery, signed each bottle.

Marc Abrams, a local bourbon expert, authenticated each bottle and appraised the flight at more than $18,000.

“These five coveted bottles offered as a group directly support sick children and their families. It’s a win-win for everyone,” Hal Hedley, CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of Kentuckiana, said in a press release. “Because of the support from our community, this raffle will provide 10,990 nights of comfort to families who stay at our house.”

This raffle has made an “enormous impact” on the Louisville-based Ronald McDonald House, according to the release. Since 2019, the raffle has raised more than $1.2 million.

The flight will be raffled at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28. To purchase tickets and for more information, visit https://bit.ly/46WJ444.
