Walton Goggins has been cast in Amazon Prime Video's live-action Fallout series adaptation.

While details of the veteran actor's character were not revealed, Deadline reports that Goggins will take on a lead role as a Ghoul — a human or animal that have mutated due to prolonged exposure to radiation. He is the first actor to be announced in the cast.

The Fallout series adaptation is expected to begin production in 2022 with Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Graham Wagner serving as showrunners. Amazon Prime Video, Kilter Films, Bethesda Game Studios and Bethesda Softworks will all work in tandem while Westworld creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, Athena Wickham and Todd Howard will executive produce.

Amazon Prime Video first announced the series adaptation in July 2020, with Nolan and Joy sharing a statement that read, “Fallout is one of the greatest game series of all time. Each chapter of this insanely imaginative story has cost us countless hours we could have spent with family and friends. So we’re incredibly excited to partner with Todd Howard and the rest of the brilliant lunatics at Bethesda to bring this massive, subversive, and darkly funny universe to life with Amazon Studios."

Goggins is currently starring in a recurring role on HBO's The Righteous Gemstones as Baby Billy Freeman and is part of Apple TV+’s The Last Days of Ptolemy.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Megan Thee Stallion will make her movie debut in A24's upcoming musical comedy.
