You can't help but be invested in the characters' fates, as one player explains: "This game is wholesome and gets you EXTREMELY involved with the characters of the house you choose. It’s delightful. At the same time, the stakes are higher than ever, as you form a real attachment to your characters. The game is also heartbreaking." Better buy some tissues!

If your family gamer won't receive the PS5 this year, they still deserve a few new games to enjoy. There are still a lot of great games being released for the PS4 system, and there are plenty of deals to be had for titles old and new.

One popular new game is Final Fantasy VII Remake. The original was an instant classic upon its release back in 1997, and this remake gives it a super slick facelift.

A fan of the original says even though they hesitated to buy this new one, they were “not disappointed,” adding that it’s “faithful to the original story with a twist! Better storytelling with the improved graphics.”

There’s a lot you didn’t learn about the American Revolution in school. You certainly didn’t read about a secret society pulling the strings and a band of assassins trying to stop them. That's what makes this historically based game so much fun — the way it plays with real historic figures and events. This package gives you two thrilling colonial adventures: the remastered version of Assassin’s Creed III, which originally came out on the PlayStation 3, and Liberation, a title that came out on the handheld Vita featuring a female assassin and set in New Orleans. It may not be the most accurate version of events, but it’s certainly the most fun! Save $26 right now!

If you haven't heard of the franchise, Kingdom Hearts is an action-packed role-playing game where Disney meets Final-Fantasy, and this collection has 10 of the games in the series collected together for one super low price. Kingdom Hearts All-in-One Package would still be a great bargain at its regular price of $50, but right now it's 50 percent off, only $25. That's a crazy good deal, and your loved ones will love playing with Mickey, Donald and Goofy, as well as meeting new friends like Sora and Riku.

Shoppers note it's good for all ages, with one parent saying "My little one can even play it" and another enthusing "I bought Kingdom Hearts for my son and he can't stop talking about how much he is enjoying the game." If the kids love it this much, it'll certainly make a great addition to your own collection.

Final Fantasy XII isn’t one of the more famous titles in the popular Final Fantasy franchise, but maybe it should be. After all, it’s got it all: a princess trying to win back her throne, ghosts, enchanted forests and even sky pirates. It’s so good that it was given a shiny remake a few years ago, one that souped up the graphics and gameplay for a modern audience. And now it’s insanely inexpensive, at Walmart: down to a mere $8; that’s a whopping 84 percent discount on one of my favorite Final Fantasy games. Maybe it will be one of your faves too!

Save $40 and visit the Viking age, in Assassins Creed: Valhalla

Vikings are cool, and we’re not just saying that because they live way up north! This epic title lets you live the life of a Norseman… or Norsewoman (you get to choose your gender). You can go on raids, fight vicious battles and experience a grand, sweeping saga in the Assassin’s Creed universe. But you don’t need to be familiar with the series to get started — in fact, this game is a great starting point for this immersive series, with a fun history lesson to boot!

Gamers certainly love it, with one shopper calling it “one of the best open world games I have played.” That’s because “there is so much to do in this game, so many ways to build your character, so many ways to engage in combat. The graphics are amazing and finally a game where you can play as a Viking! This game has over 100 hours of gameplay. Highly recommended!”

This classic series has it all: space cops, aliens, rebellion and even romance. And your decisions carry over from one game into the next, so you’ll want to play the entire trilogy. Good thing this title includes all three of the original Mass Effect games for only $38, plus lots of bonus content like extra weapons and armor. It’s even been remastered to look great on your 4K TV!

One player says “The graphics are amazing. Shepard looks great and the controls are so much better. This is a must-have for any Mass Effect fan. If you've never played the series before, this is a great opportunity to begin.” And other shopper calls it “the Star Wars Trilogy of video games” and a “must buy.” If you love the adventures of Han Solo and Luke Skywalker, why not give Commander Shepard a try?
