Shopping for groceries is a weekly task that can easily become very monotonous. Generally, the name of the game is to find the brands and products you love, spend as little money as possible and leave room for a guilty pleasure snack or two.

Whether you're shopping for yourself or for the entire family, it's no secret just how difficult the struggle can be to populate your cart with name brand products while sticking to a budget. Even when retailers like Walmart feature a plethora of Great Value products that are sometimes direct dupes of some of the most popular brands, there's still a sense of uncertainty attached when weighing your options.

Thankfully, in a recent video shared to Instagram, Lorafied took it upon herself to do the necessary research needed to tie a slew of Walmart’s Great Value products back to their name-brand counterparts. And if you've passed up on any of these products in the past due to the price seeming a bit too good to be true, you might be singing a different tune by the end of Lora’s video.

While sifting through Walmart’s polished concrete aisles, Lora starts off with the Great Value Cake Mix, which she notes is made by none other than Duncan Hines. In regards to the ice cream section, Lora discovered that Great Value Cookies & Cream Ice Cream comes from the same processing plant as Blue Bunny and is a pretty close Breyers dupe. As the video continues, Lora notes that Great Value Sweet Cream Butter has a shocking resemblance in packaging to Land O’ Lakes, and both Great Value Peanut Butter and Tomato Ketchup can be tied to trusted brands like Peter Pan and Heinz.

Luckily for us, the dupes do not stop there. According to Lora, Great Value's Cinnamon Sugar is made by none other than McCormick, while Great Value Thick & Chunky Salsa comes from the popular salsa brand, Rosarita. Those looking for savings on freezer bags and paper towels can breathe a sigh of relief, as Great Value Quart Freezer Bags are made by Ziploc and Great Value Ultra Strong Paper Towels are actually made by go-to brand, Bounty.

In addition to Lora’s eye-opening discoveries, she also pinned Great Value Bread to the makers of Nature’s Own, Great Value Mayo to Kraft and Great Value Yogurt to Dannon. And perhaps one of the most relieving discoveries, Lora mentions that all of the Great Value cereal is made by both General Mills and Kelloggs, leaving us to wonder what we’ve been doing spending $8 on a box of Honey Nut Cheerios.

All in all, Lora’s video offers insight into some of the aspects of grocery shopping that generally are hidden behind closed doors. Just because an off-brand product is priced lower than its name-brand competitors does not mean that it's an inferior product by any means. It is important, however, to still pay attention to the ingredients list when considering a Great Value product. Because while their products may be created in the same processing plant and save you some money, each brand does feature a unique recipe of its own.
