But here's the thing: Walmart announced a permanent change to their holiday hours back in 2020, and it's safe to say that you shouldn't bother reaching for your keys at all.
So, is Walmart open on Thanksgiving?
No, Walmart will not be open on Thanksgiving 2023. Just as they were the past three years, we can expect Walmart stores nationwide to remain closed on Thanksgiving Day.
"'Our people make the difference,' and that's never been more true than it is right now," commented Dacona Smith, executive vice president and chief operating officer for Walmart U.S., in a statement published on the retailer's website. "Closing our stores on Thanksgiving Day is one way we're saying 'thank you' to our teams for their dedication and hard work."
Still, Walmart will have you covered if you need anything the day before—stores will operate during regular hours Wednesday. For most locations, that's 6 a.m. to 11 p.m., but you can always check the online store locator tool for hours at your specific store. Walmart has also started offering deals on popular gift categories prior to Black Friday. That means you can spread out your holiday shopping this year!
