While Walmart is one of the most popular spots to shop for just about everything, you'll have to find alternative plans if you were hoping to stop by on Christmas Day.
The chain store, which is typically open 24 hours a day, tends to be open for all major holidays including Easter and New Year's Day. However, Walmart will shut down early at 6 p.m. on Christmas Eve and remained closed on December 25, a spokesperson says. And the retailer isn't the only store closed on the holiday. Popular spots like Macy's and Target will also be closed on Christmas Day.
If you find yourself in need of an extra stick of butter for your Christmas cookies, or run out of coffee for your holiday guests, you can head to one of several popular convenience or drug stores, which are open on Santa's big day. Retailers like Rite Aid, CVS, Walgreens/Duane Reade, and 7-Eleven will all be open and operating under a special holiday schedule.
And if you're in need of a last-minute gift, head to Starbucks where you can pick up coffee mugs, tasty treats, fun accessories, gift cards and more small presents. Starbucks stores will be open on both Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with hours varying at each location.
For those who won't settle for anything less than Walmart, stores open back up December 26 for normal hours. Check your local store's specific opening time through their store locator feature.
