‘Walking Dead’ Star Christian Serratos to Play Selena Quintanilla in New Netflix Series

We could fall in love with this brand-new casting announcement for Netflix’s Selena: The Series.

The streaming service just confirmed that Christian Serratos will star as the late Selena Quintanilla in the upcoming drama. (The 29-year-old actress is widely recognized for playing Rosita on The Walking Dead.)

Netflix announced the exciting news with a minute-long teaser, featuring Serratos preparing for her all-new role.

The clip opens on Serratos practicing lines and performing dance moves while dressed in the late Tejano singer’s iconic purple jumpsuit.

After performing a spot-on rendition of “Como La Flor,” an off-screen producer says, “Alright, Christian. We’re ready to shoot.”

Selena: The Series will be released in two parts. The first installment will consist of six hour-long episodes and will air in 2020. The second part will hit Netflix shortly after.

Serratos’s involvement in the new project shouldn’t come as a huge surprise, since the actress’s future on The Walking Dead is questionable. (Spoiler alert: Her character is on the verge of death as a result of their tainted water supply.)

In addition to Serratos, Selena: The Series will also star Ricardo Chavira (Abraham), Siedy Lopez (Marcella), Gabriel Chavarria (A.B.), Noemi Gonzalez (Suzette) and Madison Taylor Baez (young Selena).
