Walker, Texas Ranger Reboot Starring Jared Padalecki Is on the Way

Remember that feeling of returning home from work or school and riding a happy buzz knowing Walker, Texas Ranger was on television that night? One never knew what excitement and drama would unfold with Cordell Walker, James Trivette, Alexandra Cahill, CD Parker, and the rest of the stellar crew.

Well, that thrill may return sooner than you think: Earlier this week, Deadline announced that actor Jared Padalecki will take on the lead role in a remake of Walker, Texas Ranger. While a network hasn't been determined yet, it's looking like the show will air on the CW or CBS.

"Like the original series, created by Albert S. Ruddy & Leslie Greif, the reboot, in which Walker is getting a female partner, will explore morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground," writes Nellie Andreeva for Deadline. Plot-wise, expect a lot of Texas adventures and action: "At the center of the series is Cordell Walker (Padalecki), a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case—only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home." Of course, Padalecki will have big shoes to fill as he takes on the starring role originally played by Chuck Norris.

If anybody can do it though, we have faith in Padalecki—a San Antonio-born actor with plenty of gusto, pep, and, we hope, martial arts skills.
