Wales Bonner and Adidas Collaborate on 1980s Reggae-Inspired Collection for the Spring

Wales Bonner and Adidas Originals have another collaborative collection on the way, which traverses the early 1980s era of reggae when dancehall music became a staple in Jamaica.

The spring ’21 collection, which is named “Essence,” was first previewed during Men’s Paris Fashion Week in September 2020 and is a follow-up to their “Lovers Rock” fall ’20 lineup. With unique colors, the collab features updated colorways of the Adidas Originals Samba and Nizza Lo silhouettes.

The Adidas Nizza Lo comes in two colorways. The first comes with a purple upper that features the classic Three Stripes in white and yellow, with the Wales Bonner name printed adjacently. The outsole is semi-translucent and has the Adidas Originals log on the tongue. The second colorway of the Nizza Lo is cream, red and white.

The Samba offers a full leather upper with a suede toe cap. It also has a heel tab as well as satin lining, leather stripes and supplementary crochet laces. It comes in a black and green colorway with a brown outsole.

The collection will also offer 1970s era pieces including shorts, T-shirts and tracksuits. The Wale Bonner x Adidas Originals collab is available globally on March 26 and prices range from $100 to $320. It will be released at Adidas.com, the Confirmed app and at select retailers.

This will not be the last time the two entities collaborate. Bonner and Adidas Originals unveiled a fall ’21 collaboration in January of this year.
