Wait, What’s the Deal With Nate and Jules on ‘Euphoria’?
[Spoilers ahead for this season of Euphoria. If you’re not caught up yet, feel free to get on out of this post!]
Quick and very upsetting reminder: The first season of Euphoria is already almost over, and with the finale coming up this Sunday, there are still a lot of things that need to be addressed.
We’ve obviously covered major ground so far. Rue has been working on her recovery. Jules has been fully blackmailed by Nate, and Nate and Maddy’s relationship was outed for its abusive nature. Fezco proved himself as one of the only tolerable guys on this show, and Cassie found out she was pregnant with McKay’s baby. Oh, and there’s that whole Kat transformation from fairly average teenager to full-on cam girl. But it very much begs the question...where is this all going?

Is Jules in love with Nate, and vice versa?
During last night’s episode, Jules had a drug-induced fantasy/hallucination where Nate showed up to the party she was at wearing glitter makeup and a fauxhawk. Glitter Nate is hands down the best Nate. Don’t try to argue.
In the fantasy/dream/whatever, Nate confessed that Jules was the most beautiful person he’d ever met and it ended with them kissing. IRL, Jules was kissing her friend’s friend, but if Jules was fantasizing that it was Nate, that must mean there are residual feelings there, right? TBD.
Nate’s been struggling with his feelings toward Jules the entire season. From that first super-tense interaction at McKay’s party to the fact that he went out of his way to catfish her to “protect his dad,” it seems like his interest in her is more than just blackmail-oriented.
In the promo for the finale, there’s a shot of Maddy crying, followed by a shot of shirtless Nate looking upset, then a shot of Nate’s dad Cal. Are Nate and Maddy about to break up? TBD.
Is Fezco going to jail?
Nate pulled the ultimate asshole move by calling the cops on Fez after he threatened him in the convenience store. Fez and Ashtray had to flush all their pills, which could mean major trouble for them down the line.
This hooded person in the promo who reaches for a gun definitely looks like Fez, so we’ll see.
Is Rue... okay?
No, like literally, are her kidneys okay? She spent most of the last episode holding in her pee, and that cannot be good for you. Plus, there’s a shot of her in the promo wearing a hospital gown and an IV.
More important, is she alive?
There was a theory at the beginning of the season that Rue was actually dead and narrating this whole thing from beyond the grave. You can read more about that here.
What’s going to happen with Tyler?
Like, is he just going to rot in jail? For something he didn’t do?
Who was that guy Kat was chatting with?
During Kat’s most recent cam session, she talked to a guy who refused to show his face and he asked her to take off her clothes, which she usually doesn’t do. That can’t just be a coincidence, right? There’s gotta be some meaning there?
Where did McKay and Cassie leave things?
The promo for the finale shows Cassie in a hospital gown, which leads us to believe she did decide to get an abortion, but that doesn’t necessarily mean she and McKay are still together.
Where the heck is Ali?
Rue is going through some serious shit and he is, like...nowhere to be found?
Is anyone going to find out Cal’s secret?
Or are we all just gonna leave season 1 pretending that what happened with him and Jules didn’t happen?? And what happened to the tape he has of his encounter with Jules? Does Nate have it? Is he going to use it against Jules?
In summation...
Next Sunday literally cannot come soon enough.
