Henry Cavill’s final season in the titular role as The Witcher is teasing you. They’re really drawing this one out. Like Stranger Things before it, this Netflix series will be split into two parts—or volumes, because this is a fantasy show and that sounds way more medieval. The Witcher season 3 volume 1 arrives on Netflix today. The volume contains the first five episodes of the season, out of eight total episodes.

Here’s everything we know about The Witcher season 3 volume 2 and those final three episodes.

When Will The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2 Be on Netflix??

I know that's why you're really here, so let's get right to it. The second half will drop on July 27, 2023. That's not too long of a wait, is it? And it's a full week after the great Barbie and Oppenheimer movie palooza, so unless you're seeing one or both of those in theaters for the eighth time (no judgment), you'll have the whole weekend free to concentrate on The Witcher.

Who will be in The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2?

That depends on who makes it through volume 1. It seems safe to bet that the big three (Henry Cavill, Freya Allan, and Anya Chalotra) will be there. There are also new characters introduced in The Witcher season 3 played by Robbie Amell, Meng’er Zhang, Hugh Skinner, and Christelle Elwin.

Is there a trailer for The Witcher Season 3 Volume 2?

There isn't a specific volume 2 trailer at this moment. But once you finish volume 1, take a look at the overall season 3 trailer, above. Maybe there are some clues! Do you see anything that didn't make it into volume 1?

Any Other News?? Spoilers?? Come On….

The split wasn't part of the original plan, according to an interview that executive producer Steve Gaub did with The Verge. It was inspired by Stranger Things, of all seasons. Steve and the team saw that Stranger Things had split their season in half and saw an opportunity to do the same while editing the Witcher season... and (spoiler for volume 1) create a fun little cliff-hanger in the process! “In a streaming world, cliff-hangers don’t really exist because you’re hitting [next episode],” Steve told The Verge. “You don’t get that satisfaction of the anticipation and discussion and chatting online. So we wanted to give that to the fans, and the story was there for us to do it.”

I like that this decision was, at least in part, a creative one. Mysteries and cliff-hangers are fun! Plus I'm getting a little tired of full-season releases. I don't have the time to binge that many episodes over a weekend anymore. Then you have to have all these awkward conversations with your friends about how far you are so you don't get spoiled and end up forgetting which episode was which and spoiling each other anyway. Splitting the season into multiple drops of three to five episodes is much easier. If Netflix isn’t going to do weekly releases, this is an okay compromise, don’t you think?
