  • Victoria’s Secret model Shanina Shaik said the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is canceled this year.

  • In May, the New York Times reported the show will no longer be broadcasted due to declining ratings.

The Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show has been around for forever. Okay, it actually started in 1995, but it surely feels like forever. Every year, some of the most famous models gather to strut down the runway in the most extravagant lingerie sets topped with angel wings. The show has given us moments like Rihanna’s iconic strut in that pink lace get-up, Ariana Grande dodging Elsa Hosk’s fluffy wings, and just another much-needed look at Shawn Mendes’ perfect tendril. Safe to say, it’s usually one of the most anticipated television events. And not throw a wrench in the rest of your year, but the 2019 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show is apparently canceled.

Crazy, right? Turns out, while talking to Australian publication The Daily Telegraph, longtime VS model Shanina Shaik straight-up said, “Unfortunately the Victoria’s Secret show won’t be happening this year.” Yeah, so the news didn’t even come from the company itself.

Shanina went on to say:

“It’s something I’m not used to because every year around this time I’m training like an angel. But I’m sure in the future something will happen, which I’m pretty sure about. I’m sure they’re trying to work on branding and new ways to do the show because it’s the best show in the world."

Now, about that rebranding. In May, The New York Times reported that the show won’t be broadcast on network TV anymore. At the time, the CEO of VS’s parent company, Les Wexner, said they’ve “decided to rethink the traditional Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show. Going forward, we don’t believe network television is the right fit.”

Alright, I’m going to need more details about all this ASAP!
