Wait, So Kate Middleton Just Wore Shorts for the First Time in EIGHT YEARS
Kate Middleton just showed up to an event wearing shorts for the first time in the eight years she's been a duchess. EIGHT YEARS!
Kate typically abides by royal protocol and wears dresses, skirts, and occasionally pants.
Yesterday, Kate Middleton and Prince William rolled into the King's Cup Regatta, a super posh boat race, and arrived wearing shorts. Which, BFD, people wear shorts every damn day, right? Yes, but Kate Middleton isn't "people." She's freaking royalty. And this is the first time she's worn shorts, like, ever. Or, at least the first time since she became a Duchess eight years ago in 2011.
Actually, the last time she was Kate seen wearing shorts in public was back in September 2008 when she showed up at a Day-Glo Midnight Roller Disco Party in London in this hilarious outfit:
LOVE THIS FOR HER.
So...why doesn't Kate typically wear shorts? A little something something called royal protocol. Duchesses simply don't wear shorts to fancy public events (Kate's usually in some sort of dress/hat combo), and when situations are more informal, Kate typically wears jeans. Makes sense, considering that The Queen is so conservative about ~legs~ that she makes everyone wear nude stockings.
Whatever, though, I am all about Kate's new shorts lifestyle and highly recommend she lean into this look for the next royal banquet. Looks like Twitter is also on board, so bye!
No one freak out, but Kate Middleton wore shorts??? Yassss queeeeeennnnnn
