Miley Cyrus just performed her new song "Slide Away" at the MTV VMAs, and she mighttttt have shaded her soon-to-be-ex Liam Hemsworth in the process.

It was super subtle, but at the end of the song, the lyrics are supposed to be "You're right, we're grown now." But in the live performance, Miley said not once, but twice, "You're right, I'm grown now." Again, it's subtle, but it makes the breakup song less about her and Liam as a couple and more about *her* as an individual.

FWIW, she also brought Kaitlynn Carter as her date.

She released the song two weeks ago, after it was confirmed that she and husband Liam Hemsworth were getting divorced after six months of marriage.

Since the initial news broke, varying reports have come out about the reason for the split. One anonymous source said Miley thought Liam partied too much, while another source claimed she had cheated on him. She denied those reports in a recent Twitter thread.

“But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP. I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will.”

The song suggests Liam's partying was part of the issue, though, as it specifically mentions whiskey and pills. Here's a full breakdown of the "Slide Away" lyrics, in case you want to contemplate this song and the meaning of life for the next few hours.
