Wahlburgers Just Released a First-of-Its-Kind Fast-Food Sandwich

It’s "sliding" onto menus now.

When you think of a fast food sandwich, oftentimes you first think of a cheeseburger. And that often applies to fast-casual joints too such as Shake Shack and Whalburgers, where "burger" is literally in the name. But, Wahlburgers doesn’t just do burgers—the brand’s got a menu of chicken sandwiches, entrée salads, sides, and more. And now, it's adding something brand new to the menu in the form of a moonshine-infused BBQ slider.

Wahlburgers' New Apple Rye BBQ Pork Sliders

Wahlburgers is collaborating with the craft distillery Sugarlands Distilling Co. on the new menu item. The Apple Rye BBQ Pork Sliders feature three sliders with “succulent, slow-smoked pulled pork, house-made Apple Rye BBQ sauce and freshly prepared coleslaw.” To really put things over the top, the sliders are served with a stack of crispy onion rings. The only bad news here is that this is a limited-time offering.

The barbecue sauce is made from scratch using Mark & Digger’s Rye Apple Moonshine, an unaged rye. (Mark & Digger are Mark Ramsey and Digger Manes, who star in Discovery Channel’s show "Moonshiners.") As to how the innovative new sandwich came to be, Wahlburgers’ founder Chef Paul Wahlberg recently spent some time in Tennessee and was inspired to create the new sandwich.

Chef Paul said, “I'm always searching for new ideas to bring to the kitchen, and my latest trip to Tennessee was full of unexpected stories, people and flavors that inspired me greatly...Mark, Digger and everyone at Sugarlands were fantastic hosts, and I left with a new understanding of the rich history of moonshine and the area's devotion to slow-cooked barbecue. I can't wait to share my interpretation of this southern staple with Wahlburgers guests this fall."

The sliders aren’t the only new item on the menu. To accompany them, Wahlburgers is serving a specialty Bootlegger Apple Cider craft cocktail. The sliders and cocktail are available at Wahlburgers locations now through November, so get ‘em before they’re gone.
