Jason Bateman Is Joining Ryan Reynolds in the All-New ‘Clue’ Film

Ryan Reynolds is teaming up with Jason Bateman for an all-new project inspired by a beloved murder-mystery game.

The Deadpool alum, 42, is set to star in, write and executive produce a movie based on the iconic Hasbro board game Clue. According to Deadline, Reynolds will appear alongside the Ozark actor, 50, who is in early talks to direct and star in the film.

If you’re a fan of the classic 1985 movie Clue—which starred Christopher Lloyd, Tim Curry and Eileen Brennan—then you should know that Reynolds’s version will not be a remake of the original flick. Instead, it will provide a modern-day take on the mysterious murder(s) and suspects.

While Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote Deadpool  and its sequel, were originally supposed to write the screenplay, Fox and Disney haven’t confirmed if a deal was ever made. On the bright side, we do know that Bateman will develop the new script alongside Reynolds, so prepare for loads of quirky humor.

We’re not surprised that Bateman is considering stepping into the director’s chair for the Clue remake. In fact, the actor just won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for a Drama Series for the season two premiere of Ozark, titled “Reparations.”

No further details about Clue have been released, but we can already picture Bateman and Reynolds…in the library…with the revolver.
