Volunteers needed to remove Scotch broom

WARRENTON — Volunteers are needed to help the North Coast Land Conservancy remove Scotch broom from the Surf Pines Habitat Reserve in Clatsop Plains from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.

The work party will meet in the parking lot of the Surf Pines gatehouse.

People planning to help should bring sturdy boots and clothing, sunscreen, a hat or rain gear and snacks and water. Tools and gloves will be provided, but participants should feel free to bring their own. Loppers and handsaws are particularly handy. There is no potable water at the site, and no toilet, and dogs are not allowed.
