Volunteer working to clean Anderson's dog park

May 16—ANDERSON — Although a large group of volunteers were expected to clean the Anderson dog park, Jennifer Lindsey was working on her own Thursday morning.

Lindsey is with the group Bikers for Furry Friends, which is an annual project.

She was expecting several members of the Anderson Police Department to assist on Thursday, but they were unable to attend.

Lindsey was pulling weeds and placing gravel donated by IMI in several areas of the dog park.

She was cleaning up the park and making sure there were no trees or weeds that could harm the animals.

Lindsey was equipped with a weed eater, chainsaw and axe to remove the overgrown areas.

"I'm here every day," she said. "We're doing a fundraiser for the Animal Protection League with a motorcycle ride with a $20 entry fee and $10 for riders. All the money is donated to the Animal Protection League."

The group has partnered with motorcycle riders for the event.

"I want to make it look nice and pretty because we have people coming out," Lindsey said. "The park gets a lot of use."

She said the group gets support from the motorcycle clubs Redrum and Red Spirits when it comes to raising funds and to maintain the park.

"They're a great group of men and women," Lindsey said.
