'The Voice' Star John Legend Questions If Blake Shelton Has a Heart After Shocking Battle Twist

Blake Shelton proved on Monday that he will do anything to get the absolute best out of his team of singers on The Voice ... even if it scares them.
In the first few moments of the latest season 20 episode, we see Team Blake singers Cam Anthony and Emma Caroline take on Dan + Shay and Justin Bieber's "10,000 Hours" hit during the battle stage of the competition. Knowing that there'd only be one winner, both artists gave it their all — but even still, coaches Kelsea Ballerini (who is temporarily filling in for Kelly Clarkson) and Blake agreed that Emma could've owned her talent a bit more.
"It's frustrating to know that you're that great of a singer, and I don't know if you believe you're that great of a singer," Blake said to Emma. Moments later, he announced Cam as the winner of the battle. Accepting her defeat, Emma told Blake how much of an honor it was to be able to work with him.
"Thank you so much for seeing something in me and turning your chair. This journey has been just so incredible," Emma said. As she walked off the stage thinking she was going home, Blake slammed his hand on his red button at the last second and opted to save the singer from elimination.
While starting to get emotional and process the shocking move, Emma asked Blake why he did that to her. Blake's response? To "scare some stage presence into you."
"Emma, you have a gift, you really do," Blake explained to the contestant. "You are so much more than someone’s backup singer. You deserve to be in the front of the stage, but you got to give us something to see." As tears filled her eyes, Emma promised that she'd work on it from here on out.
As Emma began walking off stage again, the coaches instantly started teasing Blake for being so sentimental. "You do have a heart after all," Nick said to Blake. Hilariously, John said in reply "does he, though?" while Kelsea simply shook her head at everything.
That Blake, always keeping everyone on their toes.
