Adam Levine's Voice exit in 2019 was already tough for fans to accept – but now, it sounds like Blake Shelton might not be too far behind.

Despite the longtime coach obviously loving his gig on The Voice, the country crooner told Hoda Kotb on Today With Hoda and Jenna recently that he might be ready to take a step back from the spotlight in the near future.

"I hope that’s not too far down the road," Blake said when asked about someday embracing a simpler life. "Ten years sounds like way too long to me. I’d like to see that sooner than later."

In recent years, the 44-year-old singer has split his time between his home in Oklahoma, touring around the country and filming The Voice out in LA. But now, he looks forward to a quieter life with his fiancée, No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani. The two hope to get married sometime in the summer of 2021.

"I mean, we’ve both pretty much taken it to the limit as far as our careers go and touring and now the television thing," he continued. "It’s been fortunate to accomplish a lot of things. But, hopefully, at some point, we get a chance to live some life."

Of course, when Blake does decide to walk away from the NBC competition show, he'll be leaving behind quite a legacy. As it stands, the "Hillbilly Bone" singer has been a coach to seven winning artists, the most wins for any coach on the show ever.

He'll also be the last original coach to leave The Voice after the series first premiered in April of 2011 (Adam left after season 16, while CeeLo Green and Christina Aguilera both gave up their full-time gigs after season 3 and later returned together in season 5).

In recent years, three of The Voice chairs have belonged to Blake, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson, with the fourth constantly featuring new coaches. Nick Jonas currently occupies the fourth chair, while Ariana Grande is slated to take his place in season 21.

Though Blake didn't provide Hoda with a specific date of when he might be leaving, fans might want to mentally prepare. Like the country artist said in the interview, things might happen "sooner rather than later."
