'The Voice' Fans Are Slamming the Coaches for 'Hazing' Newbie Nick Jonas

From Country Living

Nick Jonas definitely knows how to make an entrance.

The newest member of The Voice made his series debut during the season 18 premiere on Monday night and one-upped the other coaches before he even stepped foot on the stage (or the ground, for that matter).

Kelly Clarkson, Blake Shelton, and John Legend had jokingly mixed reactions to Nick's dramatic paragliding stunt at the beginning of the episode. Blake—who previously promised to "bully" his girlfriend Gwen Stefani's replacement—remarked that "it's going to be a long season."

The veteran coach was right: It's going to be a long season for Nick, who ended up getting picked on for the rest of the episode.

The first blow came during Nelson Cade III's Blind Audition. The talented contestant gave a powerful performance that earned a four-chair turn—but John used his only "Block" on Nick. He justified the shady move against the rookie coach by calling it the "newbie treatment."

Later, Blake tried to sabotage Nick's chances of getting a contestant to join his team by bringing a puppy out on stage. He said that he was "being a little hard" on Nick because he's "the new guy." Even Kelly admitted that they were "hazing" him!

The Jonas Brothers frontman didn't seem to mind at first—but he finally stood up for himself when the other coaches wouldn't stop interrupting him.

"Do I not exist?" Nick said. "I know I talk soft, but I'll start screaming if I have to!"

Fans at home had been watching Nick get put through his paces for the entire episode, so they fully supported his hilarious outburst.

Although the banter between the coaches is entertaining, everyone seemed to agree that they need to "let Nick speak." But we have a feeling he'll get the hang of it sooner rather than later.
