"The Voice" Fans Fact-Checked Kelly Clarkson After Her Argument with Blake Shelton

From Prevention

Blake Shelton and Kelly Clarkson are at it again. And while we usually like to laugh off Blake’s comments on The Voice as jokes, it seems like he's serious this time!

It all started during Mandi Castillo’s Blind Audition. When she finished belting out "Asi Fue" they asked her the same question as they always do, and then Blake started praising her for her talent.

"I was able to concentrate on your vocal ability, and sis it’s unbelievable," he told her, before continuing to discuss the performance overall. "I don’t know what you’d classify it as, but I feel like I heard a fiddle, and that’s a little bit country."

Kelly never misses a chance to correct Blake, and butted in with, "I think it was a violin." Usually the Oklahoman laughs it off. But this time, he wasn’t going to back down so easy.

"Good point, Kelly. It’s the exact same instrument," he said. She retorted, "No, it’s not because I played the violin. I did not play the fiddle."

It seemed like he was just going to let it go, but he ended the conversation with one final statement to Mandi. "You have an incredible sound, I would be honored to be your coach. A fiddle and a violin are the exact same instrument," he said.

Think it ended there? You’re wrong. Later, newcomer Nick Jonas decided to google the answer. His findings: "A violin is a fiddle, but not necessarily." LOL!

Kelly seemed satisfied, but Blake still didn’t stop in his off-camera interview. "You walk into a music store and say 'I’d like to buy a fiddle, please', and they’re going to take you to the violins. They are not different," he promised.

So where does the truth lie? Blake is, technically, correct. Apparently, the violin and the fiddle are the same instrument. But according to this site, "What distinguishes a violin from a fiddle is the style of music that is played."

Fans also caught that distinction, and fact-checked Kelly all over Twitter. Though, to be fair, she may have just been hammering home that the fiddle and violin are very different theory. So in that case, she's kind of right, too.

We’re going to call this one a tie, but what do you think? Let us know in the comments!
