Before joining NBC’s singing competition show The Voice as a coach, Ariana Grande perfected her craft with the guidance of her own vocal coach Eric Vetro. Now, after more than a decade working with the celebrity voice coach, the “Positions” singer is celebrating his latest accomplishment.
While enjoying her new gig on The Voice and getting ready for the release of her makeup brand, R.E.M. Beauty, the 28-year-old artist took a moment to applaud Eric for officially launching his podcast, Backstage Pass with Eric Vetro, on October 20.
“My friend and vocal coach of over 13 years, Eric Vetro, has started his very own podcast!!!!! it’s called #BackstagePassPod and I am so very proud of and excited for him,” she wrote on Instagram. “There are no words to describe what a gift of a human being this man is! He has been by my side every step of the way and believed in and encouraged me, my voice, my heart, my music, my ideas since I was 15.”
As folks know, Ariana first rose to fame playing red-haired high schooler Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon’s sitcom Victorious and later its spinoff, Sam & Cat. But right around the time her second TV show kicked off, she released her debut album, Yours Truly, in August of 2013, and soon after she made a name for herself on stage. According to the Grammy-winning artist, Eric has been right by her side from day one.
She continued: “There is no way I would have survived what has been vocally demanded of me over the past decade without him. From simultaneously filming a television show playing a character with a squeaky, silly voice during the days and recording my debut album at night on 0 sleep, to completing 4 tours with no vocal injuries (thank you thank you god/Eric), or just about anything else I’ve experienced in my professional (or personal) life.”
The “7 Ringers” vocalist concluded her message by thanking Eric for his endless support and encouraged fans to listen to the first podcast episode, which is about her journey as a singer. “Your guidance and friendship has been and is one of the greatest gifts in my life,” she wrote.
After hearing a preview of Ariana’s conversation with Eric and reading her personal note to him, thousands of fans swarmed her Instagram comments section with heart emojis and heart-eye emojis. “STOP THIS IS SO CUTE,” one person wrote. “Aww the caption was amazing you can truly see how much she appreciates him 👏,” another added. “Love this so much,” a different fan said.
For the premiere of Backstage Pass with Eric Vetro, Ariana opened up to Eric about what it was like making the transition from actress to singer. "I was kinda terrified to do what I actually wanted and make the music that I actually wanted to make — and have my brown hair, wear thigh-high boots [and be] what I wanted to be."
But we’re so happy she did!
