'The Voice' Coach Blake Shelton Admits the One Thing He Hates Most About the Show

From Country Living

  • Blake Shelton has been on The Voice since it first premiered on NBC in 2011.

  • In a recent Q & A, the longtime coach opened up about what he likes and dislikes the most about the show.

Blake Shelton understands The Voice better than anyone. He has mentored hundreds of talented artists, watched his fellow coaches come and go (shout-out to Adam Levine), and has had a winning contestant on his team a record-breaking six times.

But just because Blake has been on the show for 17 seasons doesn't mean he loves everything about his job. In a recent Q & A session at his Ole Red restaurant in Nashville, the country star revealed what he loves—and hates—about being on The Voice.

Fans have seen Blake struggle to choose between his team members during the Battle Rounds and Knockouts, so it will come as no surprise that he does not like sending anyone home.

"Eliminating people from the show. … I literally despise it," he said, according to People. "I don’t want it to be in my hands. And so when we finally get to the [Live Shows], it still hurts as bad to see somebody go home—but at least you don’t feel directly responsible for it."

Once the fate of the contestants is out of Blake's hands, he takes on a new role in the competition that he likes the most: being a fan.

After each live performance, the coach says he loves checking to see "who's just blown up" on iTunes. When one of his own team members is rising to the top of the charts, it's "exciting to see it in motion."

Now that the competition has reached the Top 11, Blake only has two singers left in the running—but it sounds like he'll be rooting for them until the very end.
