Blake Shelton has definitely earned his bragging rights on The Voice. The country star has crowned six champions from his team throughout his 16-seasons on the show, and three of those wins were consecutive. But even with his record-breaking coaching statistics, Blake still makes mistakes from time to time. His latest blunder was caught on camera during the Blind Auditions and what followed was nothing short of hilarious.

Contestant Patrick McAloon took the stage to perform "Runaway Train," a song released in the early 1990s by indie band Soul Asylum. Blake was the first to turn his chair for the singer, later followed by Adam Levine and John Legend. However, the hopeful artist's rocker vibe was a step outside of the country coach's usual area of expertise-and Blake let his naivety show.

"Kelly," he whispered to Kelly Clarkson while Adam was speaking to Patrick about his song choice. "What's the name of that band? 'Soul' what?"

"Asylum," she whispered back.

"Soul Asylum?" Blake asked and Kelly nodded, grinning.

Moments later, when it was his turn to address the singer, Blake did not hesitate to name-drop the information he had just learned.

"First of all," he said. "Soul Asylum-one of my favorite bands."

"Not true," Adam interrupted.

It didn't appear like the Maroon 5 frontman heard the exchange between Blake and Kelly, but he definitely suspected that his fellow coach was not actually a fan of the alternative rock band. The audience seemed to know it too, and the crowd exploded with laughter as Blake insisted that he really does love Soul Asylum.

Fans at home didn't miss his musical slip-up either, immediately calling out the coach on Twitter for his less-than-convincing attempt to break out of his country box.

People were also entertained by the never-ending feud between the show's most veteran coaches.

Despite Blake's best efforts (he even broke out his finger-pointing technique), his rival won this round. Patrick chose to be on Adam's team and the two embraced onstage as John and Kelly agreed, "they were made for each other."

Adam took the opportunity to brag on Twitter about his new team member, poking fun at Blake in the process.

"Patrick," he wrote. "I’d like to congratulate you on not going with [Blake Shelton]. You chose wisely."

Will those two ever get along?!
