The Voice coaches aren’t holding back this year!

The first Blind Audition of 2020 has officially been released, and it’s flawless as per usual. The reality singing show introduced us to Nelson Cade III, who sang his own version of “Pride and Joy” by Stevie Ray Vaughan. His smooth vocals garnered a four-chair turn, and if you listen to the clip below you’ll definitely hear why.

Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, Blake Shelton, and newcomer Nick Jonas all wanted Nelson on their team. Unfortunately for Nick, the other three ganged up on him (as Blake formerly promised he would) and he was blocked by EGOT winner John.

Most of the video shows Nick getting put through his paces. John belts out a little bit of Nick’s hit “Jealous,” Blake gives Nick trouble for writing down comments about Nelson on his notepad, and Kelly just laughs along at all the antics. In Nick’s words, “So it’s begun.”

Poor Nick! It’s not his fault that Blake’s girlfriend Gwen Stefani replaced Adam Levine last season, and that everyone’s choosing to handle their absences by picking on the new guy.

Things are going well for Nelson, though, as he’s got three other amazing coaches to choose from. Unlucky for us, we’ll have to wait until The Voice premieres on Monday, February 24 to find out who he picks.

John is definitely going hard after the artist, even suggesting he can reconnect Nelson with Stevie Wonder. Will that be enough to win Nelson’s favor? We’ll see!
