Vladimir Guerrero chooses to wear Angels cap on his Hall of Fame plaque

The defunct Montreal Expos added another loss to their franchise record Thursday. Former standout outfielder Vladimir Guerrero announced he would wear a Los Angeles Angels cap on his Hall of Fame plaque.

After getting the Hall of Fame news Wednesday, Guerrero told reporters he would wait until Thursday to make a decision about his cap. By choosing the Angels, Guerrero will make history. He’ll be the first player in the Hall of Fame to wear an Angels cap.

That may come as a major disappointment to some Expos fans. Guerrero spent the first eight years of his career with the club, posting a .323/.390/.588 slash line. He hit 234 of his career 449 home runs with Montreal.

Guerrero joined the Angels in 2004, and remained with them for six seasons. With Anaheim/Los Angeles, Guerrero hit .319/.381/.546, with 173 home runs. He also won his only MVP award as a member of the club.

Guerrero also played for the Texas Rangers and Baltimore Orioles, though neither team’s logo was a contender to be on his Hall of Fame cap.

With that, the Angels and their fans are now officially represented in the Hall of Fame. And for Expos fans who are upset, you still have Gary Carter, Andre Dawson and Tim Raines representing your club.
