Admittedly, the color pink always makes me happy, so when I heard that Pantone’s 2023 color of the year was PANTONE 18-1750 Viva Magenta, I was low-key excited. This rich hue — which is a mixture of red and purple — is a more “adult” way to embrace the Barbiecore trend, and there's actually a good reason it's being heralded as the "It" color, especially if you believe in color magic and manifestation.

:A New Era of Barbiecore Fashion Is Upon Us

On the color board, magenta falls directly in the middle of red and blue, so therefore it holds the attributes of both. The spiritual meaning of the Viva Magenta is universal harmony. It demands power, passion, and balance while also bringing cheerfulness and peace to those who wear it.

According to Pantone, Viva Magenta is an “unconventional shade for an unconventional time," which makes sense, since astrologically, 2023 is going to be groundbreaking. First, the transformative planet Pluto will temporarily dip into Aquarius from March 23 to June 11 (until it firmly commits to being in Aquarius from 2024 to 2044), making us recognize the importance of technology and the effects it has on us. It will be an innovative period that is going to change the tech industry and the world forever. Additionally, the North Node of Destiny and Jupiter will be in Aries for part of the year, bringing fiery excitement and desirable vibes to 2023. Our hearts will be ablaze with lust, feverish enthusiasm, and zeal, so Viva Magenta will be the ideal color to express our innermost sentiments.

Viva Magenta is also an old-school color that dates back centuries, long before machinery played such a large part in production and dyes were made by hand. In other words, it symbolizes a time to embrace the old and the new with the same “rebellious spirit” of this specific shade.

:So, What Is Manifestation — And How Do You Actually Do It?

According to color magic practitioner Sarah Potter, “there has been a lot of disruption and uncertainty the past few years, and politics have greatly divided people. We need an energy that will be calming, inspiring, and balancing which is what magenta is all about." Potter adds that this color will bring "harmony and positivity to the collective with its ability to transform our attitudes and perspectives. It’s uplifting, optimistic, and promotes compassion and kindness, which we could all use a little more of now.”

Still, you'll want to be cautious when rocking magenta, as it also has the power to bring out arrogance and impatience at times. In order to avoid the stressful elements that might cause frustration, the key is to not overdo it. I’d suggest wearing Viva Magenta when you want to boost your confidence or leave a lasting impression on someone.

Although I personally tend to stay away from bright-colored clothing, I do intend to paint my nails magenta or use it on my lips to bring about positive vibes and motivate myself toward attaining my goals.

"Magenta will give you confidence and vitality to take on what’s next and make significant changes," says Potter. "This color can manifest transformation, so your life could look very different and more aligned with your ultimate fantasies in a year’s time or less. Magenta has the manifestation power to make dreams a reality.”
