"We will rise from the ashes."

Mayor Hope McCrea (Annette O'Toole) gave everyone chills when she spewed out this line in the recently dropped Virgin River season 5 trailer. (More on what she meant in just a second.)

It's finally time! After waiting over a year since season 4 premiered, we finally have a taste of what's to come in the upcoming season of Virgin River. Though, we couldn't have expected this much intensity!

Before we dive in, we'll just give a small refresher on the Virgin River season 4 finale and the many questions it left us with: How will Jack navigate fatherhood now that he knows he's the father of Mel's soon-to-be-born-baby? Oh, and who exactly is the father of Charmaine’s twins? We still don't know! After the brawl between Preacher and Vince... is Vince dead? Plus, what does this mean for Preacher and Julia? We don't want to see 'em split!

Yeah, there was a lot going on—but this new Virgin River trailer seems to hint at some answers. However, it also looks like we're in for even more drama! 🤯

Right away, we see Jack (Martin Henderson) speaking to Mel (Alexandra Breckenridge) about his anxieties on being a new father. But Mel has parenting concerns of her own and appears to quit her job at the clinic. Doc (Tim Matheson) isn't too happy about it, but he'll be just fine—being grumpy and cynical is his natural state, but he always comes around!

As for Virgin River's romances, Preacher (Colin Lawrence) is seen briefly holding hands with someone who we think is Julia. But can we be sure? Also, Lizzie (Sarah Dugdale) and Denny (Kai Bradbury) have officially become an item.

All sweet, wholesome things so far. Though, this next season will definitely not be all smiles and laughs. The latter half of the trailer was focused on a sudden wildfire taking over the small town of Virgin River and immediately shifting the mood and energy from our beloved set of characters. We don't know all the details, but we see how the town quickly bands together to work though the tragedy—because it wouldn't be Virgin River without a glimmer of light even through the darkest of times.
