This Viral Video Features Makeup Brushes Made Out of Human Hair

Please, no.

The moment that Rihanna entered the wide world of beauty vlogging, we knew something terrible was going to happen. We simply don't deserve to watch Rih put on a black lip in one swipe. The other proverbial beauty shoe had to drop sometime. The Internet giveth, and the Internet taketh away — and today, my friends, the Internet has come to taketh away.

A Twitter user named @malicioustaurus alerted the beauty world to a DIY in which, in the name of a "5-minute craft," one woman chops off her hair, sticks it into a pencil, and calls that a makeup brush.

Let's cut straight to the chase: A clump of your hair is not a makeup brush. Aside from the creep-out factor, human hair is covered in all kinds of weird oils and chemicals that you probably don't want to apply directly to your face. I love my dry shampoo, but it's not exactly La Mer. Let's leave it on the scalp where it belongs.

The video went viral — out of anger, thank God Pat McGrath. People don't seem to be planning to try this one at home. As one commenter wrote, "All that fancy makeup isn't gonna cover the big missing chunk of hair in the front lol." Still, it's a shock to see even one person decide to lop off a huge chunk of hair all for the sake of a "craft." There are perfectly good, affordable makeup brushes at your local drugstore, friends. The emergency stylist appointment to fix your asymmetrical hair is going to cost way more than a pack of brushes.

We get it: There's no beauty chore more dreaded than cleaning your makeup brushes. Much like the person who buys new underwear in lieu of doing actual laundry, beauty lovers with extra stock on hand have been known to simply toss their (probably already long overdue) makeup brushes and start on a new set. That's one ill-advised solution to dealing with the problem of dirty makeup brushes. And now, thanks to the dark power of the Internet, we have another. But please, don't watch this upsetting beauty DIY. Watch Rihanna do her makeup instead.
