Viral TikTok proves why you should always check purse pockets at the Goodwill

A TikToker made a shocking discovery when they looked inside a donated pocket book — and now, they’re advising thrifters everywhere to double-check those secondhand purses.

Artist, thrifter and TikToker Frío (@godsjunk) gained over 2.2 million views, 261,000 likes, 6,300 saves and 400 comments when they shared their stunning Goodwill discovery online.

This isn’t the first time we’ve seen a thrifted purse go viral online. Earlier this year, a woman was shocked when the old purse she bought from an estate sale for $1 fetched a crazy price at auction — the footage of which gained over 8 million views on TikTok.

However, in Frío’s case, it wasn’t the purse itself that was a stunning find — but rather the windfall tucked away within the pockets.

Unlike the single mom who took to TikTok to reveal why she’ll never shop at Goodwill again, Frío’s video is inspiring people to visit the thrift store chain more often — at least just to peruse through the purse section.

“Okay, I always hear people say check the bags at thrift stores, and I finally did it,” Frío’s TikTok begins.

At first, all Frío found was a couple of (empty) envelopes — but upon further digging, they were stunned to discover “a whole freaking wad of cash.”

However, as some TikTokers pointed out, it wasn’t just the dollar amount that was a windfall, but the potential value of the bills themselves.

“I would do a little research on that older cash, sometimes that stuff is rare and worth a lot to collectors!!” advised @biserious.

Other TikTokers took to the comment section to share their own unexpected thrift shop paydays.

“I bought a dresser from goodwill years ago that came with over $300 of brand new arts supply stuffed in one of the drawers,” wrote @biblicallynamed.

“Bought a cute little chain, when I got home and lifted the piece out the box a pair of diamond earrings was underneath!” commented @lilies_and_rosegold.

“I found $700 at the bins, all 20s that came out of a jacket,” shared @sandcasmer.

Inspired by these tales, other TikTokers declared that they’ll be shopping at thrift stores more often.

“Imma stop by goodwill brb,” wrote @ilikemybekfastalot.
