Viral Frame Hack Turns Even Home Portraits Into Showroom Worthy Art

Have you got a big, open wall in your house and you want to do something with it, you just have no idea what? Then have I got the idea for you! The creator behind HomeDecorIdeas on Pinterest recently shared a gallery wall hack that turns just about any small portrait and large wall into a showroom-worthy piece of art and you are going to want to steal the idea ASAP!

For this hack you are going to mainly want three things - a well done portrait, some paint, painter's tape, and a larger than your picture frame. In fact, make the frame as big as possible, even if that means thrifting or making it yourself (which can also be extremely satisfying and that way you can make it the exact size you want without really breaking the bank!)

The first step is to prep the wall. The creator doesn't do it, but I highly recommend measuring out the size of your frame and laying down a square of painter's tape first before adding your paint to the inside of this square, essentially inside where your frame would be. This just helps keep everything neat and makes clean up a bit easier. You can choose any backing color for this as well, though white or black obviously make the a pretty cool statement on their own.

Once that is dry, add your picture frame up onto the wall, making sure that it is perfectly in alignment and doesn't have any obvious crookedness. From there you'll want to center your picture on the wall itself. Black-and-white portraits work especially well for this step, though don't hesitate to try something different! The final step is to add a small light to the top, preferably one that doesn't need a cord, and voila! You now have a gorgeous portrait wall that anyone would be proud of!
