King Charles' coronation is finally going down after months (or years, honestly) of preparation, and it's poised to be a huge—by which I mean endless—event full of pomp, circumstance, and feuding royals who aren't speaking to each other. Can't wait! What a time!
So, who is showing up to this thing? Honestly lots of v important people. Not Harry Styles or Adele, tragically (they rejected King Charles' invitation), but there will definitely be a lot of important politicians and royals at the event, plus a few celebrities and a couple randoms that might make things even more awkward. On that note, here's the coronation guest list!
RSVP STATUS: YES
The Prince and Princess of Wales
Kate Middleton and Prince William will obviously be in attendance at the coronation, and you can expect them to have a prime spot on the Buckingham Palace balcony with King Charles. (Side note: the balcony is truly a whole dramatic THING for some reason.)
Prince George and Princess Charlotte
Prince George is taking part in the coronation ceremony as one of King Charles' pages, while Princess Charlotte will also be in attendance. However! It seems unlikely that Prince Louis will show up with his siblings since he's on the younger side.
Prince Harry
After a ton of speculation (and a late RSVP that had everyone spiraling), Buckingham Palace released a statement confirming Prince Harry's attendance, simply saying: "Buckingham Palace is pleased to confirm that The Duke of Sussex will attend the Coronation Service at Westminster Abbey on 6th May. The Duchess of Sussex will remain in California with Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet."
The Yorks (Minus Fergie)
Despite being disgraced and stripped of his royal duties, Prince Andrew is expected to show up at the coronation along with his daughters, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie. His ex-wife Sarah Ferguson won't be joining.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh
Prince Edward and his wife, Sophie, will be at the coronation to support King Charles—and as working royals, they'll also be chilling with him on The Balcony™.
First Lady, Dr. Jill Biden
President Joe Biden is skipping the coronation, but First Lady Jill Biden will be in attendance. The White House released a statement confirming as much, saying, "President Joseph R. Biden, Jr. spoke today with King Charles III, underscoring the strength of the relationship between our countries and the friendship between our people. The President congratulated the King on his upcoming Coronation and informed him that First Lady Jill Biden looks forward to attending on behalf of the United States."
Rose Hanbury
Kate Middleton's "rural rival" Rose Hanbury (read all about that drama here) is expected to be at the coronation with her husband David Cholmondeley, who is extremely close to King Charles. Should be awkward for all kinds of reasons.
Joanna Lumley
Absolutely Fabulous star Joanna Lumley is a personal friend of the King and Queen and has been confirmed to attend the event. Oh, and she's also going to be joining Sky News' broadcasting team to cover it.
Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene of Monaco
Prince Albert confirmed his attendance to People, saying he was going to bring his kids "any little 'trinket' I can put my hands on" as a souvenir.
Crown Prince Akishino and Crown Princess Kiko of Japan
The couple confirmed they will represent Emperor Naruihto at the coronation.
Crown Prince Frederik and Crown Princess Mary of Denmark
The couple confirmed they'll be attending the coronation via their website, saying, “The Crown Prince couple participate in the coronation of HRH King Charles III and Queen Camilla of Great Britain. Westminster Abbey, London, U.K.”
President Emmanuel Macron of France
President Macron said he'd attend the coronation to show his "friendship, respect and esteem."
King Felipe and Queen Letizia of Spain
The Spanish Royal House confirmed Queen Letizia and King Felipe’s attendance, according to HOLA! Spain.
King Carl XVI Gustaf and His Daughter Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden
King Gustaf's wife Queen Silvia and Crown Princess Victoria's husband Prince Daniel are expected to remain in Sweden while their spouses attend.
Grand-Duke Henri and Grand-Duchess Maria Teresa of Luxembourg
Luxembourg Palace reportedly confirmed their attendance!
King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands
The royal household put out an official statement saying, "His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and Her Majesty Queen Máxima will attend the coronation ceremony of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Camilla of the United Kingdom at Westminster Abbey on Saturday 6 May 2023. Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands and Her Royal Highness Catharina-Amalia, the Princess of Orange, will attend a reception at Buckingham Palace on 5 May on the eve of the coronation."
Māori Royals Kīngi Tūheitia and Makau Ariki Te Atawhai
Māori King Tuheitia's chief of staff said, "Our respective monarchies are enduring institutions that share a common commitment to stability and continuity and unity for all peoples. The Kingitanga will continue to hold the Crown accountable for its role as a partner to Te Tiriti o Waitangi.”
Crown Prince Haakon and Crown Princess Mette-Marit
These two also reportedly confirmed their attendance, and judging from this picture they'll bring their regal A-game.
Crown Prince Pavlos and Crown Princess Marie-Chantal of Greece
FYI, King Charles is godfather to Crown Prince Pavlos, who asked Prince William to be godfather to his son Prince Constantine.
PM Rishi Sunak and Akshata Murthy
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is the only member of parliament who has been given a plus one to the coronation, according to the Daily Mail.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos of the Philippines
They'll be part of New Zealand's delegation along with the Māori Royals.
President Andrzej Duda
The Polish president's attendance was confirmed during Prince William's recent visit to the country.
Rabbi Ephraim Mirvis
The Rabbi and his wife Valerie Mirvis will actually be staying with King Charles ahead of the coronation to observe Shabbat and will walk from Clarence House to Westminster Abbey.
RSVP STATUS: MAYBE
Tom Parker Bowles and Laura Lopes
Queen Camilla's children haven't been officially confirmed, but it seems likely they'll be there to support their mother casually becoming Queen.
Katy Perry
Katy is performing at King Charles' coronation concert the day after the official coronation, so gonna assume she got an invite to the main event. Maybe! Whomst knows.
Lionel Richie
Lionel is also slated to perform at the coronation concert, and considering he's friends with King Charles, it seems pretty likely he'll be in the audience during the coronation itself.
The Beckhams
I mean, they basically never miss a royal event.
The Sultan of Brunei
The Telegraph reports the Sultan of Brunei, a friend of Charles', has been invited, but TBD on if he attends.
The Sultan of Oman
The Telegraph also reports that the Sultan of Oman (another one of Charles' friends!) has been invited.
King Abdullah II
King Abdullah II is a good friend of Charles' and they recently chilled at a Sandhurst parade together, so chances are he'll attend.
We'll be updating this list as more RSVPs come through, fear not.
