Vince Gill was missed at the 2018 Country Music Association Awards last night.

The legendary country singer, 61, who was slated for an epic performance to honor Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Ricky Skaggs, had to miss the 52nd annual award show last night after falling ill. Thankfully, Keith Urban and John Osborne of Brothers Osborne were quick to step up in his absence.

“I don’t know if the Ricky Skaggs thing has been announced or not, but John is going to be sitting in with Ricky Skaggs and Keith Urban," T.J. Osborne told Kellie Pickler and Ben Aaron on the red carpet ahead of the live show.

"Vince Gill is unfortunately in the hospital. He has a kidney stone," John Osborne further explained. Soon after breaking the news, he brought his guitar out on stage and rocked out to "Highway 40 Blues" with hall of famer Ricky Skaggs. "Vince Gill’s kidney stone was the best thing that ever happened to me,” John joked.

Keith Urban also helped out, which made for a fun evening, according to Ricky Skaggs. "To have Keith Urban here to sing 'Highway 40' with me-we've done that at the Opry, but not here," Skaggs told The Boot. "He was sitting in for Vince Gill, who couldn't make it because of a little sickness."

The country crooner wasn't the only star missing at the last-minute-Kenny Chesney also had to miss the award show.

“CMA Musical Event of the Year winner and Entertainer of the Year nominee Kenny Chesney will be unable to appear on tonight’s telecast due to a death in the family,” the Country Music Association tweeted just a few hours before the festivities kicked off.

There's no word from Vince Gill or his team on his condition. We're wishing him a speedy recovery!
