Scarecrows and works of art were displayed in dozens of private gardens in a Worcestershire village as part its annual Open Gardens and Flower Festival.

The weekend event, in Eckington, near Pershore, also included maypole dancing, a classic car display and live music.

The village's hillside flower meadow was also open to visitors to enjoy views of the Avon and Severn valleys and a free bus tour of the village was also organised.

Many residents also displayed scarecrows - all styled with a Paris Olympics theme.

Other attractions included a flower display at Holy Trinity Church, as well as stalls selling flowers, plants, home-made food, crafts and books.

The event is organised by the church every year.

Karen Sagar, one of the organisers, said: "After the gloom of a wet spring, here is another chance for everyone to explore and enjoy a fun day out.

"And it all helps keep our lovely old church in good shape.”
