Viktor & Rolf's Couture Show Inspired Countless Memes

“Viktor & Rolf Spring 2019 Couture is speaking to me on a spiritual level.”

Viktor & Rolf just debuted their Spring 2019 Couture collection in Paris on January 23. While the silhouette of each dress was exactly what one might envision when they hear the word “couture” (think: larger-than-life skirts, layers of tulle, and bright colors), there was a detail on each one that stood front-and-center. Models took to the runways with gowns that featured words, statements, and sayings that you might find quite regularly in meme form, filling your Instagram feed.

The show opened with a purple, yellow, and green ombré layered tulle gown that read “No Photos Please.” It stood in stark contrast to the telephoto lenses flashing away from the end of the runway and the front row watchers gazing through the camera apps on their phones. Following suit were 16 additional looks that read everything from a simple red “NO” to “I Am My Own Muse”; “F* This I’m Going to Paris,” and closing out with “Sorry I’m Late I Didn’t Want To Come.” In short, Viktor & Rolf’s gowns were all of us. Here’s hoping they create similar looks in T-shirt form for those of us not exactly in the market for a couture gown at this very moment.

As a result, and predictably so, the internet has gone crazy over the collection. The New York Times’ Vanessa Friedman shared the “Give A Damn” gown, writing, “Viktor & Rolf have a message for you.” Another Twitter user wrote, “Viktor & Rolf Spring 2019 Couture is speaking to me on a spiritual level.” Yet another simply shared, “I suddenly feel inspired.”

We love them all so much, we couldn't possibly pick a favorite (trust us: we’ve tried!) What’s yours?
