'The View' Hosts Ranked by Net Worth

ABC’s The View is returning Tuesday, Sept. 5 with the same hosts as last season, and to much fanfare. Legendary journalist Barbara Walters first created the show in 1997, co-hosting until 2014, but it hasn’t lost steam since her departure. It ranked No. 1 in daytime talk shows at the end of its 26th season.

At the heart of The View is truly its hosts, and while the show’s been a bit of a revolving door on that front, the current cast is clearly a hit with the audience. Half of them—Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Sunny Hostin—are set at the Hot Topics table through Season 28, so they aren’t going anywhere anytime soon. And why would they? They’re making some of the biggest bucks in daytime television.

As fans prepare for the premiere, here’s a look at The View’s six co-hosts and how they’ve acquired their net worth—ranked from poorest to richest (but really, no one’s poor here).

6. Alyssa Farah Griffin

As the former White House director of strategic communications and assistant to President Donald Trump during his term, Alyssa Farah Griffin is best known for her political career. She appeared as a guest host on The View a number of times before joining as a full-time panelist in August 2022, succeeding Meghan McCain to provide a conservative political perspective to the show. (She's also a political commentator for CNN.)

Farah Griffin’s net worth hasn’t been reported by a reputable source, so it can only be speculated on. But she made a $183,000 in 2020 working for Trump, and given her career path and her current job, she’s not exactly hurting for money.

5. Ana Navarro

Ana Navarro, now a well-known political strategist and commentator, started her career as a special advisor to the Government of Nicaragua in 1997. She’s served in many other positions leveraging her expertise on Hispanic issues, including her work as the National Hispanic co-chair for John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign.

Navarro regularly contributed to The View beginning in 2013, has guest-hosted since the end of 2018 and became a permanent co-host in August 2022. According to ABC News, “She is one of the leading Hispanic political voices in the United States,” and brings her viewpoint as both a Republican and Latin American immigrant to the table.

Thanks to her work on political campaigns and as a commentator for CNN and Telemundo, Navarro has an estimated net worth of $3 million. She commutes to The View set in New York City from her home in Coral Gables, Florida, so one can only assume the paycheck is worth it. According to OK! Magazine and other sources, as a newbie on the show Navarro is likely pulling in around $250,000 per year.

4. Sunny Hostin

Sunny Hostin, an Emmy Award-winning television journalist and author, originally found success as a federal prosecutor. Since then, she’s served as an anchor, correspondent and legal analyst for CNN and ABC News, and hosted a six-part documentary series on Investigation Discovery.

On The View, she's been a co-host since 2016. The show is designed to feature women of different opinions, and Hostin, a Democrat, uses her voice as a biracial woman and decorated attorney to speak up for marginalized communities.

As for her financial status, Hostin is worth an estimated $3 million. While she worked as a federal prosecutor, public attorneys often make less than those in the private sector, so the majority of her money likely comes from her career in television.

On the Just Jenny podcast in 2022, Hostin commented that she had to fight to be paid fairly on The View. "Unfortunately, what I did learn at one point was that I was the lowest-paid host on the show, even though I've been there longer," she said. Ultimately, Hostin hired a lawyer (apparently former federal prosecutors need those, too) and was rewarded with three years of back pay. Now, she’s reportedly paid $1.6 million per year.

3. Sara Haines

Sara Haines began her TV career as a production coordinator for Today in 2002. She’s risen to fame as an ABC News correspondent and lifestyle anchor for Good Morning America, and she now hosts ABC’s primetime game show The Chase.

Haines joined The View as a co-host in 2016, but left in 2018 to do GMA 3: Strahan, Sara & Keke with Michael Strahan and Keke Palmer. However, she returned in 2020 and has stayed on since. While she doesn’t have a history in politics, Haines’ years as a daytime TV host contribute to her even temperament—which is needed in the show’s more heated moments.

"My favorite part of the show continues to be sussing out where I stand on a topic in a time when the headlines can be misleading. I challenge myself to take the extra steps to source information and, only then, do I come to a conclusion," Haines told the Des Moines Register.

Haines has an estimated net worth of $6 million. She reportedly makes $1.5 million a year for The View, and no doubt has banked a lot from her work on The Chase, Good Morning America and Today.

2. Joy Behar

Joy Behar, a comedian, was a receptionist for Good Morning America in the 1980s—the foundation of her very long career in show business. She hosted her own Lifetime show and made numerous film and TV appearances before being cast as an original member of The View in 1997, sharing the screen with Barbara Walters, Meredith Vieira, Star Jones and Debbie Matenopoulos in the first season. She briefly left the show in 2013, after being fired, but rejoined in 2015.

“I was glad to be fired,” she told Time in 2022. “I basically was sick of the show at that point for some reason, I don’t even remember why.”

As a veteran on The View, Behar doesn’t shy away from on-air arguments with her co-hosts. "This show is a volleyball game, it's not a golf game,” she told ET. “If you know to hit the ball and wait for it to come back to you, you'll be fine. That's the only advice I ever give anybody."

Behar’s work on various TV shows and movies, as well as her career as a standup comedian and writer, has earned her a net worth of $30 million. She makes about $7 million per year for The View.

In an interview with ET, she was asked what’s keeping her on the daytime show. "Money," Behar said, laughing. "And also geography. I live right close by."

1. Whoopi Goldberg

Whoopi Goldberg, icon and EGOT winner, got the nickname “Whoopi” doing standup comedy in the 1970s (yes, from frequent flatulence). She then moved from New York to California, joined a theater troupe and began her illustrious TV and film acting career. Goldberg is also an accomplished writer and has even been on Broadway (for which she won her Grammy).

Goldberg serves as The View’s moderator, a role she took on in 2007 when she replaced Rosie O’Donnell. And though she gets heated at times—something viewers well know—she sees it as simply doing her job. “In a way, I am playing a role,” she told The New York Times in 2019. “These are not conversations that I’m having with my friends. If they were, we’d be doing it differently. My friends and I can talk about things in-depth in a different way than you can on television.”

Goldberg’s net worth sits at $60 million, accumulated from her decades in award-winning movies such as Sister Act, The Color Purple and Ghost. Although she starred in those films early on in her career, and probably wasn’t paid much by Hollywood standards, she made somewhere between $7 million-$12 million for Sister Act 2.

On The View, her 2016 salary was estimated to be in the $5 million-$6 million range. Today, some sources place it at $8 million.
