The hosts went above and beyond.

The View hosts took their costumes to a whole other level this year!

The annual Halloween episode of the ABC daytime talk show aired this morning, and Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin all channeled characters from their favorite television shows.

In a conversation with PEOPLE, The View's senior producer Jamie Hammer said, "Whoopi spawned the entire theme this year."

"We start putting the Halloween show together right at the beginning of September, and typically, we hold idea meetings with the entire staff where everybody pitches a theme and other segments they think would be fun for the show," she said.

"Once we have a list, we go to the ladies with the ideas we have, and they pull a theme from there. But when Elisabeth was on, Goldberg loved her so much that she walked off set and said, 'I want to do Handmaid's Tale.' And from there, we just started building."

Goldberg dressed as the character June from Handmaid's Tale, where she donned a red cape that read the powerful words: "My body, my morals, my life, my choice, not yours."

Behar also went all out with her look, dressing as Peggy Bundy from Married With Children.

Hostin was serving looks dressed Queen Charlotte from Bridgerton! The host wore a 10-pound wig for the costume, and luckily a crew member from The View used to work on the Netflix series, according to Hammer, so the outfit was extremely on point!

Last but not least, Griffin donned a Carrie Bradshaw costume from Sex and the City. Griffin wore the tutu outfit that Sarah Jessica Parker wore in the opening credits.

Many of the ladies had outfit changes during the show, which Hammer noted were all done during the commercial breaks, which typically last for 15 minutes–phew! That's pretty impressive!

All of the looks were incredible, and we can't wait to see what next year has in store!
