Whoopi Goldberg received a warm welcome on Monday morning when she returned to The View. After more than two weeks away from the daytime show, the actress came back to her seat with a new project added to her resumé and a personal fear conquered.

Over the years, Whoopi has been open about her fear of flying that prevented her from traveling on airplanes for three decades. According to The View cohost, she witnessed a mid-air collision in September 1978 when she lived in San Diego. In 2009, Whoopi was motivated to face her fear and flew for the first time in years. Now, the actress is still pushing herself to be more comfortable up in the air, and she thanked British Airways for their help during her most recent trip.

While on her way back from filming an Amazon Prime Video limited series in Scotland, Whoopi shared a heartfelt message with the U.K. airline on Instagram about her experience. “Hey British Air, I just want to say thank you for all of your accommodations of us and everything you’ve done,” she said in an Instagram Reel posted on May 1.

Whoopi continued: “The plane is beautiful. Every body here has been great. There [are] folks walking around taking care of business … I’m thrilled to be flying British Air today and I can’t even tell you how happy I am. Thank you.”

After seeing the ABC star share her gratitude with the carrier, many View fans didn’t hesitate to congratulate Whoopi on her personal accomplishment. “Happy for you. I know it’s not your favorite thing to do. Missed you 🌷,” one person wrote. “Whaaat [Whoopi] up in the air?? That’s huge. Enjoy and safe travels 😍❤️,” another added. “Good for you @whoopigoldberg so proud of you; I know this is huge for you 🙌🏽 🙌🏽 🙌🏽 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽,” a different fan said.

What’s more, she kept the same attitude of appreciation when she walked out on The View’s stage alongside Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines and Ana Navarro-Cárdenas. Moments after taking her seat, Whoopi acknowledged her fellow costars and the show for their support.

“I want to thank ABC and The View because one of the things I get to do, and I’m really happy about it, is I get to go and do the other thing I’m kind of good at and they allow me to do it,” Whoopi said. “Sometimes it goes a little longer than you want it to but I can’t say thank you enough to all the women because if they said ‘Well, you know it’s a pain in the behind’ it would be harder for me to do …"

So, what was Whoopi up to anyway? The EGOT status holder took part in an upcoming Amazon Prime Video limited series that's been in the works for quite some time. “Well, I will say it is really nice to be back,” she said on Monday. “It’s one of the best sets that I’ve ever been on. It’s called the Anansi Boys written by Neil Gaiman, wonderful writer.”
