Big wave surfer and all around waterman Mark Healey is no stranger to critical situations in the ocean.

The Hawaii surfer, hunter, and spearfisherman has spent his life navigating the world's biggest and heaviest surf.

So when it comes to jet ski prep and protocol, he's your guy.

Healey dropped the video above on his YouTube channel and captioned it:

"How To Set Up A Jet Ski For Big Wave Surfing - Tutorial With Mark Healey

"Mark Healey (@healeywaterops) takes you through how to set up a Jet Ski for Big Wave Surfing & Spearfishing."

Essentially, Healey says, he's showing viewers how to "outfit a jet skit for actual hard core use in big surf, doing recue, spearfishing, or fishing off of it."

His brand new 2023 Yamaha is his muse.

"I didn't go for the high up. But figured this time around I'm just gonna go with something more simple, easier with maintenance. It's still plenty of power to get us out of situations in the surf," he says.

"I paid for this, I didn't get hooked up or anything," he adds.

But, Healey says, there's much more that goes into jet skis then taking them from the dealership straight to the water.

"There's a lot of customization that goes into it," he says. Like the "collar" he's going to install that's super helpful in life saving situations.

Assisting Healey is his friend, Mike Slattery of High Surf Rescue who's always helped outfit his skis with "all the bells and whistles that really make a huge difference in surf."

Healey says:

"Just wanted to take everybody through it. I've always gotten a lot of questions about this so, this should be an educational piece for you guys."
