Video of Golden Retriever Cheering Up Little Girl Is Such a Treasure
Anyone who has ever known or loved a dog know that they are amazingly empathetic creatures. If you have a bad day, your dog is usually right by your side licking you. If you hurt yourself, ditto. If you are just feeling lonely or sad your pup will probably lay his head in your lap.
That's why we weren't that surprised to see the pup that belongs to TikTok user @Marleynyc comforting a little girl who was lonely. But it's still amazingly sweet nonetheless.

Dogs really are angels on earth. TikTok users agree and @Sarah comments, "That has melted my heart. They are angels in disguise, I’m sure of it." @Victoria says, "I always preferred animals to adults when I was a child. I often still do." @Jerry responds, "We don't deserve dogs. But they where here to teach us what unconditional love really is."
Because us humans emit pheromones, dogs, due to their keen sense of smell, can detect these changes in scent. When someone is lonely or stressed, their body chemistry can change, and dogs may be able to detect these alterations through their sense of smell. Dogs also can distinguish facial expressions, and they can tell when someone is smiling or sad.
Dogs also really love children, probably due to their small size and energetic nature, so most dogs are naturally attracted to them.
We aren't exactly sure why Marly decided to spend so much time with this little girl but we sure are glad he did. Dogs are so great for kids, they can stave off loneliness and boredom, teach them love and empathy and provide comfort. Looks like sweet Marly was perfect at this job.
