Video of Goats Outrunning Huge Black Bear Is a Sight to Behold

As an animal owner, you have to be prepared for nearly anything. You can't possibly plan for every obstacle that will come your way, nor can your animals tell you when something seems amiss. Luckily, modern tools like security cameras and video doorbells can help you catch the things that would've normally gone unnoticed.

When one goat owner named Julia came home from the gym one morning, she checked her camera footage to see that there was a visitor while she was gone. It was a huge black bear! Living in coastal Massachusetts, she had no idea she even lived in bear country until this startling encounter.

Her two pet goats were unharmed after outrunning the bear, and @juliakm29 even found their chase slightly comical. If we're being honest, it does look like a scripted scene from a movie!

OMFG! We'd be terrified if that had happened to our pets, but we are beyond relieved to see that Julia's goats are just fine. We can only imagine how scared they are after that chaos, though, especially if the neighborhood bear didn't go far away.

One concerned commenter echoed our worries, asking, "How did they outrun it? Did the bear give up? How did they get away?" That's what we would like to know! It seems like the rest of the chase happened where cameras couldn't see, so not even Julia knows how it all ended. How spooky!

Since she gave viewers permission to find the humor in this scary bear encounter, we let ourselves giggle at @kennedymeyers1 clever comment: "At least it wasn't a fainting goat." LOL! That's very true, though--that would've ended very differently. Fortunately, that wasn't the case here!

Many viewers are encouraging Julia to look into additional bear safety measures, and we're sure she's doing exactly that. But it's not all up to her! If her city doesn't provide its residents with bear-proof trash cans, there's only so much she can do to keep bears out of the yard. She'll have to keep her goats in a protected enclosure instead, but it's worth it for their safety!
