Here’s Video Evidence Trump Can’t Stop Cribbing Fox News Talking Points

The president is fully incepted by Fox News.

Donald Trump is a huge fan of two things: TV and not reading. More specifically, he's a voracious consumer of cable news and he hates reading anything longer than a page or two. Since he doesn't know anything about history, policy, or politics, the only material he has that he can stuff into that void comes directly from Fox News. Need a national security adviser? Take that guy who's been on Fox & Friends a lot. Don't know anything about immigration? Yell incessantly after Fox News pretends a group of people fleeing violence are rape-happy criminals.

It's been no secret that Fox & Friends is basically communicating directly to the president, but over the weekend CNN showed just how much of a sock puppet Trump is. Reliable Sources cut together a recent speech Trump delivered at Mar-a-Lago with the various Fox talking heads who first said each line.

Trump has tremendous and for now unwavering support in conservative media; Politico even published a story this weekend on pro-Trump Christian TV. But while he has many cheerleaders, there are few places where Trump directly collects his talking points. The Washington Post created a similar video to CNN's back in February, but showed Trump repeating point for point a speech made by the NRA's Wayne LaPierre. But being president is hard, after all, and if other people are willing to do the work for him, Trump is clearly willing to let them.
