Victoria/Tomas Fall 2024 Ready-to-Wear: A Tender Embrace
Victoria Feldman and Tomas Berzins pared back their aesthetic for fall 2024 with a focus on basics with signature twists as identifiers. Lovers’ vocabulary is often a reference for the designer couple, who were inspired this season by a visit to the Musée Rodin, more specifically by “The Kiss,” a marble sculpture depicting a couple embracing.
The juxtaposition inherent in the artwork, with the cold marble contrasting with the intimacy of the gesture it portrays, translated into a multitude of plays on draping and pleating and mineral textures and colorways. “The collection is inspired by opposites, strong and soft, marble with drapé,” Feldman said backstage before the show. “We wanted this season to make very wearable, simple looks.”

Tailored wool jackets and pants had asymmetric draped panels that looked to be knotted at the front, mirroring enlacing arms carved from stone, or structured tabs hemmed into their sleeves. Scarves were key to the styling, belted over a skirt to hide the breasts or paired with voluminous coats and trimmed in leather fringing.
The soft yet structured silhouettes, which also included basics like jeans and a marinière sweater, veered away from the reversible looks the couple have played with in recent years, although much of the outerwear could still be worn in multiple ways. “We want to focus on the look, and not the function,” Berzins explained.
There was a marked return to leather as the duo nodded to their first collection a decade ago. With a crinkled effect, it succeeded in mimicking stone, whereas boxy pants were worked in a tender shade of pink. There was also a cute cropped shearling jacket — new territory for the designers — and statement pants made from a patchwork of the offcuts from the collection for the final look. For lovers of the Victoria/Tomas aesthetic, their collection was like a tender embrace.
